Design Process

How I create is equally as important as what I make.

Each design begins with inspiration from nature that I gather outside on walks around my Uptown New Orleans neighborhood. From photos I take on these excursions, I make line drawings of small plants and objects such as leaves or oyster shells using pencil and ink. After painting each drawing with watercolor, I use a combination of physical and digital collage to repeat and transform these single illustrations into large scale, organic designs using many hand-illustrated elements.

From here, I work as much as possible with regionally located and eco-friendly businesses to print my work onto fabric and paper. I sew my printed fabric into my textile products in my home studio and with help from a fellow local artist and seamstress. You can find my work here in my online shop, at local and regional art and craft markets and at select boutiques.
